Two Little Delights of Making Espresso on Kilo

Two things I love about making espresso on Kilo, my hand-powered espresso machine. 1) The soda can hiss. After the shot there is usually some water left in the chamber. I lift the plunger slightly and push it down again to purge it. Once the water is out, the air follows, and you hear a hiss because the pressure inside is still higher than outside. Unmount the portafilter at that moment and it sounds like opening a soda can. This was a happy accident, not planned. It doesn't change the experience much, but I find it a delight. 2) The dry puck. Because the water is purged, the portafilter comes out with a dry, used coffee puck. Knock it out and the basket is basically clean, so I'm nearly ready for the next shot right away.
