Polish President Karol Nawrocki used his address to the 81st United Nations General Assembly to warn that impunity, Russian aggression and hybrid warfare are undermining the international order. Drawing heavily on Poland’s history, Nawrocki argued that lasting peace is impossible without accountability for violations of international law. “Without accountability, there will not be lasting peace.” He accused Russia of pursuing an imperial and neo-colonial policy toward its neighbours and said Moscow is attempting to impose a world in which stronger states determine the borders and future of weaker ones. His message was direct: “It is the force of law that should decide, not the law of force.” Nawrocki said Poland is strengthening its military and alliances not to seek confrontation, but to deter conflict and defend sovereignty. He reaffirmed NATO as the key guarantor of European security. He also warned that Russia’s challenge goes far beyond conventional warfare, pointing to sabotage, cyberattacks, destabilization, pressure on food security and what he described as artificially induced migration. According to Nawrocki, these are not isolated incidents but part of a sustained strategy designed to weaken states and divide the international community. The Polish President also called for a stronger voice for Central Europe in the G20, highlighted Poland’s economic rise and argued that energy sovereignty is essential to political independence.
