What the Floorboards Kept

What the Floorboards Kept Description: When Great-Aunt Hester's will is read, Jo Whitlock's cousin Simon inherits the family castle, the land, and the fortune — Jo gets only a derelict, forgotten cottage at the edge of the estate, the "consolation prize" nobody thought was worth much at all. But when a cracked flagstone gives way beneath her foot, Jo discovers a sealed medieval undercroft older than the castle itself, hidden beneath her own kitchen floor for over three centuries. What she finds inside — a Civil War-era hoard, forgotten family letters, and a document that could change everything about who really holds power in this family — forces her cousin, and the whole village, to finally see her differently. This original, fully fictional inheritance drama is inspired only by the broad "overlooked heir discovers hidden treasure" story genre popular on YouTube — all characters, names, and events are invented for this narration. A warm, satisfying underdog story about being underestimated, and about the quiet, patient value of things nobody else thought to look for.
