DIY Van Shower? Build the Pan You Actually Need | Custom Stainless | S2:E21

DIY Van Shower? Most camper van shower pans are designed around standard sizes, standard drain locations, and the assumption that your van is parked on level ground. None of those assumptions worked for this build. Since we're building a recirculating shower, the shower pan is elevated with all of the drain plumbing staying inside the van. We also don't use leveling blocks, so the shower needs to work regardless of which way the van is leaning. I needed a custom-sized pan with 2-inch walls that could serve as the reservoir for the recirculating shower. No off-the-shelf shower pan solved all of those problems. So I designed my own. In this episode, I pick up a custom stainless steel shower pan from a local HVAC fabrication shop, cut four drain openings using a dimple die, and install the pan in the van. The finished pan cost about $350—far less than most custom stainless shower pans—while giving me complete control over the size, drain locations, and overall design.
