Deep within the Nightmare Lands of Ravenloft, a sinister assembly of supernatural beings rules over the fears and dreams of mortals. Known as The Nightmare Court, these mysterious entities transform sleeping minds into realms of terror, manipulating nightmares and exploiting the deepest fears of their victims. In the Ravenloft campaign setting of Dungeons & Dragons, the Nightmare Court represents a particularly insidious form of evil. After all, how do you escape an enemy that can reach you in your dreams? 👁️ The Nightmare Court The Court consists of six terrifying figures, each specializing in a different aspect of nightmare and psychological horror. The Nightmare Man: The enigmatic leader of the Court, a master of nightmares who manipulates the dreams and deepest fears of his victims. Morpheus: A sinister master of dreams who twists the sleeping mind, transforming familiar experiences into terrifying nightmares. Hypnos: A terrifying figure associated with sleep and nightmares, capable of trapping victims within their own subconscious fears. Mullonga: An ancient and malevolent witch whose dark magic and terrifying powers make her one of the most formidable members of the Court. The Ghost Dancer: A spectral performer whose haunting dances and supernatural influence ensnare victims in disturbing dreamscapes. The Rainbow Serpent: A mysterious, serpentine entity whose bizarre powers distort perception and transform dreams into surreal nightmares. Together, they turn the sleeping mind into a battlefield where fear itself becomes a weapon. 🏙️ The City of Nod Within the shifting, mist-shrouded Nightmare Lands lies the mysterious City of Nod, a place where the boundaries between dreams and reality become dangerously uncertain. Here, the Nightmare Court's influence can transform familiar surroundings into terrifying illusions. Dreamers may encounter impossible architecture, distorted memories, and manifestations of their deepest anxieties. Nothing is quite what it seems. And waking up may not mean escaping. 💤 The Horror of Dreams Unlike vampires, liches, and other familiar horrors of Ravenloft, the Nightmare Court attacks through the vulnerability of sleep. Its members can exploit personal fears, buried memories, and psychological weaknesses, creating nightmares tailored to individual victims. Within their domain, even the laws of reality become unreliable. The familiar turns threatening. The impossible becomes real.
