Boring! (Malcolm Martin: Ordinary Mind Zen)

Is Zen boring? I’ll admit I often talk about the dukkha we experience during zazen… physical pain! Emotional fireworks! Resistance! Obviously this is to set against our fantasies that a ‘good’ sit is one of sublime calm and focussed awareness… But it has to be said, quite a lot of the time our zazen is… boring… just …. boring. But, is boredom good for you? What opens up into the space that boredom offers if we allow it to?
