What if those years you thought you wasted… weren’t wasted at all? We hear it all the time: Life is short. Don't waste your time on people who don't deserve it. You can't get that time back. And that's true — you can't. But I've come to believe that doesn't necessarily make it wasted. Some people come into our lives and bless us. Some teach us. Some do both. That can be true of romantic relationships, friendships, family, jobs, and just about every other road we travel. Sometimes somebody teaches you how to trust. Sometimes somebody teaches you why you shouldn't. Sometimes a relationship shows you what love looks like. Another one teaches you what love should never look like. Sometimes walking away is the lesson. And sometimes something beautiful simply reaches the end of its season. None of that means you have to stay where you're mistreated. Forgiveness doesn't mean giving someone unlimited access to your life. And finding meaning in an experience doesn't mean pretending the painful parts were good. It simply means the pain doesn't get to have the last word. God can take the people, the endings, the mistakes, the heartbreaks, the closed doors — even the years we wish we could do over — and use them to shape where we go next. You may not get the time back. But that doesn't mean you threw it away. There's something worth keeping from every yesterday. Some were blessings. Some were lessons. Some were both along the way.
