Mishap Up the Mast (Enroute to Fiji)

The previous trip was just meant to be a delivery, but a couple days in I started to think that maybe I should just sign on and continue all the way to Fiji. At the start, Gunnar wasn't sure if this boat dream was gonna work out, maybe it would be best to sell the boat? (up north, where there would be more buyers) But by the time we got to Whangarei, confidence had been restored in both the vessel, and the crew. So, a couple of weeks later, onward to Fiji! We had a good weather window, and mostly smooth sailing! except one little problem at the top of the mast! A small piece of wood about 20mm by 50mm put us all in peril!
