Cataract Surgery Recovery: Why Is My Vision Cloudy Again? YAG Laser Explained

If your vision became clear after cataract surgery but later started to look cloudy or hazy again, your cataract has not grown back. One common cause is posterior capsule opacification (PCO). This happens when the thin capsule behind the artificial lens becomes cloudy. When PCO is genuinely responsible for the visual problem, a treatment called YAG laser capsulotomy can create a clear opening in the capsule and improve the visual pathway. But finding some PCO does not automatically mean that PCO is the reason your vision is poor — and it does not mean everyone with PCO should immediately have YAG laser treatment.
