Black Hills eBike Adventure: Crazy Horse, Custer & 109 Mile Rail Trail Ride

We rode 109 miles of the Black Hills by e-bike — Crazy Horse, Custer, and a finish line at Mile 0. Here's what a multi-day electric bike tour across South Dakota actually looks like at 60+. Welcome to the finale of our journey down the 109-mile George S. Mickelson Trail in the Black Hills of South Dakota. After departing Hill City, we take the dedicated spur up to the colossal Crazy Horse Memorial to witness the grand scale of the carving and reflect on God's incredible creation in Psalm 95:4-5.Then a campground reservation error leaves us stranded without a site in Custer — and what could have been a disaster turns into an absolute blessing: discovering the peaceful EO Bungalows. Even better, we celebrate our 44th wedding anniversary with the single best culinary experience of our lives at Skogen Kitchen in downtown Custer. (We ride for pie. And for this.) The next morning we roll south for the final 44-mile leg to Edgemont, working through deceptive prairie headwinds to cross Mile 0 and finish our first bikepacking trip.
