Quick recap — Part 1 covered Mumbai to Pune, Part 2 was Pune towards Konkan where our plan changed from Marleshwar to Ratnagiri. In this part, we continue from Karad, pass through Kokrud, Malkapur, and climb up towards Amba Ghat on our way to Ratnagiri, with Marleshwar planned for the return leg. In this video, you'll see: The drive out of Karad towards Kokrud and Malkapur — genuinely one of the most beautiful stretches of the trip, with windmills lining the road Weather shifting from light drizzle to heavier rain as we approach the ghat section The climb up Anuskura/Amba Ghat via NH166 Dense fog rolling in right as we enter Amba Ghat A tea break at the top of the ghat in cold, foggy weather Practical travel info from this leg: Route: Karad → Kokrud → Malkapur → Amba Ghat → Sakharpa → Pali → Ratnagiri Road connects via NH166 through the ghat section Weather on this stretch included drizzle, heavier rain, and dense fog near the ghat top — conditions can change quickly once you start climbing A tea stall is available above Amba Ghat, useful if you want to pause and wait out fog or rain If you're planning this route, keep your headlights on and drive slow once you hit the fog near Amba Ghat — visibility drops fast at the top. Also worth checking the weather before you go since this ghat gets heavy monsoon activity, and carrying a jacket helps since it gets noticeably colder up there.
