This week, Bella and I continue our journey around the UK Coastline and in this episode we're still on the beautiful Llŷn Peninsula in Wales, picking up from where we left off around Morfa Nefyn.
Our first stop is the absolutely stunning Porth Iago – and this turned into one of those vanlife park-ups I genuinely didn't want to leave. I ended up staying for two nights, waking up beside the beach, walking a section of the Wales Coast Path, swimming in that incredibly clear water and watching some rather special sunsets.
But this episode isn't just about the scenery.
I meet Liv, who along with her husband Lee has already made a huge life change. They've stepped away from their old working lives to become campsite wardens – and now they're planning an even bigger next chapter: travelling around the UK coastline themselves, just as I am!
We talk about leaving secure jobs, earning less but living more, letting go of possessions, children growing up, not having to follow the conventional path and what happens when you finally decide: I don't know exactly how or when I'm going to do it... but I AM going to do it.
Sound familiar? 😉
From Porth Iago, Bella and I continue around the Llŷn Peninsula towards Mynydd Carreg and Whistling Sands (Porth Oer), where an early morning coastal walk leads us to another glorious beach – and a much-needed swim for both of us.
There's also one of my classic walking-and-thinking moments when I catch myself saying:
"I can't be arsed."
Rather than accepting it, I start asking WHY!
Finally, we head towards Mynydd Mawr, where I have a beautiful cliff walk planned with views towards Bardsey Island... except Wales has other ideas! 🌧️
I'm learning that travelling the entire UK coastline also means accepting that I simply can't see and do EVERYTHING.
Although I'm not entirely happy about that one... 😂
And finally Have you ever caught yourself saying "I can't be arsed" and stopped to ask yourself what's actually behind it? Make sure you watch!
