How to dismantle the Meta

Can the SPG player completely destroy everyone's expectations? These two tier X battles demonstrate a peculiar psychological behaviour: whereas your teammates sometimes hope that the SPG will spot and/or brawl, enemy players are most concerned that the defenseless SPG may run away or drown. Can an SPG do something else altogether? Dismantle the meta?
