Pete Brown – Pete Brown’s Boogie (Savoy 532‑A) The Neven 78 Radio Archive

Pete Brown was one of the most distinctive alto sax voices of 1940s New York jazz — fiery, blues‑driven, and unmistakably personal. His Savoy sides, including Pete Brown’s Boogie, sit at the crossroads of swing and early modernist phrasing. Savoy’s All‑Star Swing Series often paired top New York musicians, and this lineup is a perfect snapshot of the city’s small‑group energy in the mid‑’40s.
