Named after the GODAVARI River, it has consistently run at full capacity since its inception. Known for its preference by celebrities and businessmen, well-maintained coaches, and noteworthy 1st AC Coaches, the train has evolved from steam to diesel and electric traction, pioneering technological advancements. Initially hauled by the finest WP engines, it became the first in SCR to feature five AC Coaches in 1975.
