Episode 5: The Chimney, The Wildest Part of Katahdin’s Knife Edge

Before taking on Katahdin’s legendary Knife Edge, we had to get through The Chimney—one of the steepest and most intimidating sections of the entire hike. The Chimney is a rugged scramble between Pamola Peak and the Knife Edge, with steep rock, big exposure, and plenty of moments that make you stop and think, “We’re going down THAT?” The Chimney is widely considered one of the most challenging and dangerous sections of the 1.1 mile Knife Edge Come along as we make our way through the Chimney and get our first real taste of what makes Katahdin’s Knife Edge one of the most unforgettable hikes in New England. 🥾 Next up: The Knife Edge.
