President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., accompanied by First Lady Louise "Liza" Araneta-Marcos, led the Marcos Day activities in Batac City, Ilocos Norte, to commemorate the 109th birth anniversary of former President Ferdinand E. Marcos Sr.
1. Thanksgiving Mass
The First Family attended a early-morning Thanksgiving Mass held at the Immaculate Conception Parish in Batac City. Joining PBBM and First Lady Liza were their sons Representative Sandro Marcos and Vincent Marcos, alongside Irene Marcos-Araneta.
2. Wreath-Laying Ceremony
Following the mass, President Marcos Jr. and First Lady Liza led the wreath-laying ceremony at the Marcos Monument in Batac City to pay tribute to the late president's legacy and contributions.
3. "Natnateng" Cook-Off & Agricultural Showcase
The President and First Lady graced the "Natnateng" (Vegetables) Cook-off event at the Imelda Cultural Center. The competition featured local signature vegetable dishes and showcased Ilocos Norte’s culinary heritage and agricultural traditions.
4. Early Birthday Tribute for PBBM ("Padapadakam")
Since the event also served as a prelude to President Marcos Jr.'s own upcoming 69th birthday on September 13, local leaders and family members held a traditional Ilocano birthday ceremony:
He was serenaded by the hometown crowd with "Padapadakam" (the traditional Ilocano welcome/birthday song).
Representative Sandro Marcos placed a floral halo on the President, while First Lady Liza Marcos presented him with a bouquet.
Local officials offered 24 single-stem flowers in celebration of his upcoming birthday.
