Batwing was a Vekoma steel flying roller coaster located at the now permanently closed Six Flags America in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. Batwing originally opened on June 16, 2001 as the first flying roller coaster on the East Coast. Known as a "Flying Dutchman" model, riders would begin the ride experience on their backs facing up, and then be shifted into a face-down flying position after climbing the lift hill. The ride stood 115 feet tall, reached a top speed of 50 mph, and featured five inversions, including a vertical loop and double in-line twist. Enjoy!
