🌙 THE FOREST THAT LISTENED | Dark Celtic Fantasy Song | The Hollowborn Chronicles — Album I
🌲 About the Song
The Forest That Listened is a dark Celtic fantasy ballad blending haunting vocals, ethereal Gaelic chants, cinematic orchestration, and the mysterious atmosphere of an enchanted forest.
A song about abandonment, loneliness, belonging, and discovering that being different does not mean being powerless.
Sometimes, the world rejects the very thing it should fear most.
Lyrics
[INTRO — WHISPERED GAELIC CHANT]
Ó, a choille, cluinn mo ghuth...
Ó, a choille, freagair mi...
(Oh, forest, hear my voice...)
(Oh, forest, answer me...)
Gun draoidheachd, gun dachaigh...
Leanabh caillte fon ghealaich...
(Without magic, without a home...)
(A lost child beneath the moon...)
Hush now, child of the winter rain,
The roots remember every name.
Close your eyes, let the darkness in—
The forest knows where you've been.
[VERSE I — SOFT FEMALE VOCALS, CELTIC HARP]
They left me where the blackthorn grows,
Beneath the sky of silver crows.
My mother's tears had turned to stone,
My father's hands let go of my own.
No spark of fire, no witch's flame,
No sacred star to mark my name.
They called me hollow, cursed, unclean,
The darkest thing they'd ever seen.
I walked alone through fields of grey,
With nowhere left to run away.
Then through the mist, a whisper stirred,
A thousand leaves began to word—
[PRE-CHORUS — LOW STRINGS, DISTANT WHISPERS]
Éist, a leanabh, ná bíodh eagla ort...
(Listen, child, do not be afraid...)
Tá an choille ag glaoch ort...
(The forest is calling you...)
I heard my name in the river's breath,
In the old oak's song, in the roots of death.
And though the world had shut its door,
The woods had heard me long before.
[CHORUS — ETHEREAL CHOIR, SWELLING ORCHESTRA]
Oh, the forest that listened, the forest that knew,
With a thousand dark branches reaching through.
When the world turned away and abandoned my soul,
The trees sang softly, "Níl tú i d'aonar."
(You are not alone.)
Oh, the forest remembers, the forest remains,
It drinks every sorrow, it shelters my pain.
No wand in my hand, no magic in me,
Yet the ancient woods whisper, "Tar chugam, a stór."
(Come to me, my dear.)
And I'll follow the roots where the lost spirits sleep,
Where the old gods awaken and shadows run deep.
If the world calls me monster, then let it be—
For the forest has listened.
And the forest chose me.
[VERSE II — PERCUSSION, LOW CELLO, FIDDLE]
The bracken curled around my feet,
The moss grew soft beneath the sleet.
Pale foxfire danced along the ground,
While faceless figures gathered round.
An owl with eyes like molten gold,
A raven bearing tales untold.
They spoke in tongues no mage could read,
Of ancient kings and buried greed.
Sa choille dhorcha, fo sholas na gealaich,
(In the dark forest, beneath the moonlight,)
Tha dìomhaireachd falaichte anns gach craobh.
(A secret is hidden in every tree.)
I touched the bark; the whole world shook,
The stars bent down, the branches looked.
And somewhere underneath the stone,
A voice arose that felt like home.
[BRIDGE — MUSIC FALLS AWAY, SOLO VOCAL]
Carson a dh'fhàg iad mi?
(Why did they leave me?)
Carson nach robh mi gu leòr?
(Why was I not enough?)
I asked the moon. I begged the sky.
I cursed the gods who passed me by.
Then something ancient spoke my name,
Not with pity, not with shame.
"Cha do rugadh tu falamh."
(You were not born empty.)
"Tha rudeigin nas sine annad."
(Something older lives within you.)
"Èirich, leanabh nan rionnagan..."
(Rise, child of the stars...)
And the sleeping roots began to glow.
[FINAL CHORUS — FULL CHOIR, EPIC CELTIC ORCHESTRATION]
Oh, the forest that listened, the forest that knew,
Now the ancient trees are breaking through.
Let the witches tremble, let the high towers fall,
For the child they abandoned shall outlive them all.
Chan eil draoidheachd nam chridhe,
(There is no magic in my heart,)
Ach tha guth anns an dorchadas.
(But there is a voice in the darkness.)
No wand in my hand, no spell on my tongue,
Yet the songs of the old world have only begun.
Let the kings speak of curses, let the prophets disagree—
There are powers beneath the earth
That bow to no decree.
And I'll follow the roots where eternity sleeps,
Where the firstborn gods guard the secrets they keep.
If the world calls me monster, then let it be—
For the forest has listened.
And the forest chose me.
[OUTRO — GAELIC LULLABY, FADING HARP]
Codal, a leanabh, codal gu sèimh...
(Sleep, child, sleep peacefully...)
Fon chraoibh aosmhor, fon t-seann ghealach...
(Beneath the ancient tree, beneath the old moon...)
Bidh a' choille gad dhìon...
(The forest will protect you...)
Bidh a' choille gad chuimhneachadh...
(The forest will remember you...)
Ó, a choille, cluinn mo ghuth...
Ó, a choille...
Tha mi dhachaigh a-nis.
(Oh, forest, hear my voice...)
(Oh, forest...)
(I am home now.)
