52" Antique Brass Evergo 5E-5LW P3S Ceiling Fan

This one was a bit of an experience. I originally got this fan from a man who was having a rummage sale near my old house. He was... strange. He was originally asking $50 for the fan, but after hearing other people have good luck with talking him down on pricing, I half-jokingly offered him $5. The fan was missing its mounting bracket, and originally had a bullet-style light kit which was missing the pullchain. He insisted I take the fan for $7 which was funny to me, but I took it nonetheless. Upon opening the fan, it was immediately clear that it had been tampered with. The switch housing looked like it had been completely redone at some point. The lead wires which go to the ceiling were backwards, with neutral being black and hot being white. The reverse switch still is upside-down. I had kind of a gut feeling about the fan, so I hooked it up with a plug and used a clicker to test it and found that somehow the entire motor housing was electrified. Glad I had taken extra precautions, or that could have potentially ended very poorly. Once most of the more dire quirks were resolved, I did a bit of frankenfan-ing and put a light kit on which I felt suited the fan better, and found a mount that would work for a video even though it would be too tacky to leave up permanently. It performs pretty well, though the bearings are shot and I still have yet to perfect the art of balancing fans. I don't think I will be holding onto this one. The downrod and mount in particular are so strange that I don't think I could find something which would make a safe and attractive alternative.
