Unboxing Victorian EAPG Uranium Glass Treasures | What's in the Box?! Ep 13

Welcome to Glass in the Dark! What's in the Box?! is our ongoing series where we unbox and explore vaseline and uranium glass found online. Each episode brings a fun mix of history, surprises, personality, and of course that unmistakable glow under UV light. Box 1: Alpine Toothpick Holder This canary yellow toothpick holder comes from Jefferson Glass Company and dates back to 1903. The pattern was originally named Alpine but is also known as Swag with Brackets. Over time, the color has faded a bit, which happens with some vaseline glass as it ages. I came across a mention in The Glowing Report that called this piece very hard to find so I was excited to find this one. Box 2: Little German Band Cap Toothpick Holder A Victorian novelty piece from Duncan, George & Sons, made around 1886. This toothpick holder is designed to look like a little cap, which makes it a fun conversation starter. It has some age marks from being around for nearly 140 years, but pieces like this tend to command high prices because of their charm and unique style. The novelty factor never gets old. Box 3: Canary on Basket Dish This two-piece dish from McKee & Brothers was made around the 1890s and features a canary bird perched on a round basket base. The top piece is signed McKee, though the base doesn't have a signature. It's similar to the Hen on Nest style, but instead of a hen you get a sweet little canary. These dishes are incredibly hard to find and rarely come up for sale. The journey to get this one was... eventful. After watching it go through multiple listings, a returned sale, and some price fluctuations, I finally managed to bring it home. I'm beyond excited to add this rare piece to the collection~! Join me as we explore these glowing EAPG treasures, talk glass history, and celebrate the thrill of the find. Happy hunting~! ---------- Music thanks and Credit: Title: Downtown Glow by Ghostrifter Official Remixed by: Glass in the Dark URL: https://www.chosic.com/download-audio...
