5 Revolutions - Ba Mpanga Manga - Full Zambian Single

Zambian Music uploaded Tuesdays and Thursdays. This single comes from the great rock and Kalindula band, The Five Revolutions. This one comes from 1983 on an unusual variant label, Twikatane Records. It's still Zambia Music Parlour, and as far as I know, the label name Twikatane was never used again. Ba Mpanga Manga is among their later singles. It shows all of their skill and musicianship. By the time this single was released, the 5 Revolutions had been a bend for over 15 years and it really shows. 5 Revolutions was originally formed in 1968 under the band name "The Twangs." The original lineup included Chris Mbewe who left the band early on and later became the lead guitarist for Witch. The band played bars and other venues in Zambia's Copperbelt and were eventually discovered and supported by Zambia Music Parlour. The 5 Revolutions became ZMP's most successful band. In 1975 the 5 Revolutions released their first rock album, Boyfriends under the ZMP label. They would release two more rock albums in the late 1970's before switching to Kalindula music by 1980. Their last album, 5 Revolutions - Kachasu Ne Ndoshi was released in 1986 but they also released a number of singles in the 1970's and 80's and were active live performers. The band remained active in the 1980s and into the 1990s until the demise of Zambia Music Parlour.
