Ekapa Minerals | Mine where miners are trapped applies for liquidation

Ekapa Minerals, where five miners remain trapped after a mud rush incident last Tuesday, has applied for liquidation. All mining activities at the Kimberley mine have been halted. Metalworkers union, NUMSA, says it will approach the courts for a way forward and a clear plan on how the men trapped some 890 meters underground will be retrieved. The union says it fears the repeat of the Lily Mine scenario in Mpumalanga, where three bodies were never retrieved from a mine container since February 2016.
