It is now late October, and fallen mikan cover the ground as we carefully work through the orchard. At Kanda Citrus Farm, we check the leaves and trunks, discuss early harvesting for weakened trees and explain our approach to splitting fertilizer applications for garden trees. Possible root damage is discussed as a possibility, not a confirmed diagnosis. We also carry a 20 kg bag up to the hillside orchard, finish feeding and look ahead to harvest.
