AI Gauge Wars - India's Junction Play

AI governance is the 21st century's 𝗚𝗮𝘂𝗴𝗲 𝗪𝗮𝗿𝘀. Three incompatible standards are being laid down right now — EU regulation, American hardware leverage, and Chinese open-source — and the one that wins won't be the best technology. It will be the stickiest. My bet: India will not pick a gauge. It will build the junction. Same principle as UPI — sovereign but interoperable, plugged into every ecosystem, captured by none. Indigenous models running alongside 𝗗𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗦𝗲𝗲𝗸 and 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝘁𝗚𝗣𝗧 are not contradictions. They are the architecture of optionality. Infrastructure standards endure for generations, regardless of the pace of technological change. India is still 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗴𝗮𝘂𝗴𝗲s chosen in the 1850s. 𝗧𝗖𝗣/𝗜𝗣 was designed in the 1970s and still runs the internet. The 𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 took over a century to become near universal. 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙠 𝙡𝙖𝙞𝙙 𝙞𝙣 2026 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙘𝙖𝙧𝙧𝙮 𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙛𝙛𝙞𝙘 𝙞𝙣 2076.
