Understanding Jesus as the Wisdom of God
Scripture Text
Proverbs 8:22-31; John 1:1-5; 1 Corinthians 1:24
Memory Verse
"In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge" (Colossians 2:3 KJV)
Introduction
From the beginning of time, man has been in search for wisdom which has led them nowhere (Ecclesiastes 10:15). Proverbs show us wisdom as someone present at creation (Proverbs 8). In the New Testament, we see that this wisdom is Jesus Christ, the eternal Word through whom all things were made. He's not just wise; He is wisdom Himself. His life teaches us that true wisdom is found in humility, love, and obedience to God. In this study, we'll see how Jesus reveals God's wisdom.
How Jesus Reveals God's Wisdom?
1. As the Eternal Nature of God: God's wisdom is not an idea, it's a Person, and that Person is Jesus. (Proverbs 8:22-31; John 1:1-3).
2. In His thoughts: When Jesus became flesh, divine wisdom took on human form, revealing God's love, truth, and higher way of thinking to the world. (Philippians 2:5, Mark 1:36-38, John 12:22-24).
3. In His Words and Actions: Every word Jesus spoke and every act He performed showed the heart and wisdom of God. (Matthew 7:24-29; John 7:46; Matthew 22:17-21)
4. As God's power through the Cross: Divine Wisdom often looks like foolishness to the world, but it is God's perfect plan in action. (1 Corinthians 1:24-30)
Class Discussion
1. In what other ways does Jesus' life show God's wisdom?
2. Why do you think God's wisdom often looks foolish to the world?
3. How can we walk daily in the wisdom that Christ gives?
Conclusion
Jesus is the Wisdom of God revealed in human form. He was with God from the beginning, became flesh to reveal divine truth, and through the cross, demonstrated the highest form of wisdom, redemptive love. True wisdom begins when we know and follow Him. To walk in wisdom is to walk with Jesus.
