I actually really like SSX on Tour - was it as good as SSX Tricky (the best one, in my opinion)? Not quite. Was it as good as SSX 3 (the almost-best one - only because SSX/SSX Tricky and Midnight Club were the games that got me properly into console gaming - though I do recall getting a gaming magazine specifically so that I could play the demo of SSX 3 on my (original) Xbox and i admit I played the absolute sh1t out of that till the game was released, and then I played the absolute poop out of THAT - but SSX Tricky has my heart for purely sentimental reasons. Back to SSX on Tour. I won't lie, when I first started playing it i felt like it had gone backwards a bit graphically speaking - it felt a bit rough, a bit tooo polygon-y for me, but I guess in hindsight it was a MUCH bigger map, and like SSX3 before it, no loading screens - in the final SSX 3 all-peak race you race from top of peak 3 to the bottom of peak 1 with no noticeable loading screens - ever. So now, I give On Tour a bit of a break - it was a huge map and it had to run on the PS2's fairly light system specs, and it did it very well. This was also during the days when you had to release a game that worked - most people didn't have high speed internet with unlimited bandwidth so the developers couldn't just drop a day one patch, so the game had to work when it went out. And it worked - like i said, i didn't really get into it the way i did SSX, SSX Tricky, and SSX 3 (and don't get me started on SSX Blur for the Wii - i had it, i just couldn't figure out the motion controls...that required more brain power than I've ever possessed lol), but i enjoyed it. This time, though, I'm fully invested - it's not as easy or quick to complete like the previous SSX's, but I'm going to keep racing and ranking up... Stay tuned for more - and thanks for watching !
