Recipe from Don’t Sweat the Recipe website, link here:
https://www.dontsweattherecipe.com/st...
Ingredients: All ingredients should be at room temperature.
6 pounds fresh strawberries, sliced
½ cup sugar
1 cup butter
4 large eggs
2 2/3 cup sugar
5 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 cups milk
1 teaspoon salt
8 teaspoons baking powder
6 cups flour
Heavy whipping cream
½ cup sugar
Steps:
Wash, hull, and cut the strawberries. Place in a saucepan with 1/4 cup granulated sugar and heat gently until the sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and cool completely.
Next, we’ll bake the shortcake.
Beat butter and sugar till light and fluffy.
Add eggs, one at a time.
Add vanilla.
Fold in flour in equal parts with milk.
Prepare a 9x13 inch cake pan and spoon dough into pan.
Bake at 350F for one hour or until knife in center comes out clean
Let stand 10 minutes in pan, then invert on a wire rack and cool cake completely.
Whipped cream: Beat heavy whipping cream and ½ cup sugar until soft peaks or until you can spoon it out and holds its shape. Do not overbeat!
