Dying in Marathon is a skill issue until it happens to you four times in fifteen minutes.
This 14-minute cut is a raw death montage from Bungie's extraction shooter: severed neural links, killcards, run reports, and the long walk back through matchmaking. No successful exfil on camera - just the part of Marathon nobody clips on purpose.
QUICK FACTS
Game: Marathon (Bungie PvPvE extraction shooter)
Runtime: 14:49, edited compilation of multiple clips - not one continuous session
Structure: death screens, run reports, matchmaking, live firefights, spectating teammates
Deaths logged: Sphinx--07#4289, ShinyZinogre#4127, Ku_Go#4958 - plus downed states and revives
Run report: CO-EVOLUTION contract at 2 of 5, Season Level 52, wallet 112,945 credits
Loadout on record: V22 Volt Thrower plus Bully SMG, backpack 0 of 16 after the wipe
POVs mix across clips - at least some are the uploader's, others are crewmates'
WHAT HAPPENS IN THIS CUT
It opens on a NEURAL LINK SEVERED screen - Sphinx--07 for 133 damage with UESC Recruit and Grenadier fire piled on - and it barely lets up from there. A hard cut drops into an Intersection firefight where the crew is already half gone: Filthy Casual eliminated, ammo at 189, loot on the floor including Thick Skull V1, Protector V2, and an Ounce of Prevention. Then another death recap, another severed link, this time ShinyZinogre with NYX dealing 184.
The run report is the montage's quiet gut punch. The PROGRESS tab shows the CO-EVOLUTION contract at 2 of 5 - extract structural Bio-Chain in Dire Marsh using Chitin Samples from Tick Nests, synthesize an updated SIMbiont, inject it, and defeat a Runner - with the single-run objectives all sitting at 0 of 1. Season Level 52, faction ranks across CyAc, NU, Traxus, Arachne, and Sekiguchi Genetics, and a wallet at 112,945 credits. Flip to the LOADOUT tab and it gets worse: Data Cards uploaded for 160, 21 items lost, and a WEAVEWORM STASIS KNOT - valuable, automatically sold for credits on exfil, and gone as a lost item - described as a dense conglomeration of abandoned shell WEAVEworms.
Between the deaths there is real gameplay. Matchmaking searches with Crew Fill on and Cross Play enabled, the molecular-disassembly deployment sequence, an Intersection push with Lumen and Evoprime that ends downed under a UESC turret ping, and a Greenhouse run with Ratty9000 and Dat Toad chasing a Command Module in the AI Uplink basement. It ends the way it began: spectating a teammate through a teal-lit facility, raid timer bleeding out, no exfil in sight.
The voice chatter caught on captions is pure Marathon: "Oh my god. The team's here." at a death, "Yeah. Oh my god, you scared me." after a jumpscare, "Dang, that's crazy, dude." at a recap, and a single "Watch out." before a push. No narration, no script - just in-the-moment reactions around the deaths. And the HUD tells its own story across the clips: the SYSTEM OVERHEATING warning flashing mid-fight, ping markers calling out NYX and a UESC turret, ammo counters swinging from 189 down to 74 over 21, and a compass that never stops spinning through Intersection, Greenhouse, and back again.
The compilation structure is the honest part. Hard cuts between a death screen and live gameplay with no menu or queue in between, three different ELIMINATED names across the death recaps, and POVs that shift between the uploader and crewmates - this is a highlight reel of the bad nights, not a session. Marathon's loop is deploy, loot, fight, die, and this cut just skips the pretending.
Everything here is played straight from the footage - the damage rows, the contract text, the wallet total. If Marathon keeps handing you death screens, this is the montage that says you are not alone.
