In Episode 29 of Rendezvous Ranch, we finally get back to work after losing an entire week to rain. The plan was to clean out the little old chicken house and tear it down, but once we started digging through everything that had been stored inside for years, we decided it would be worth taking the time to sort through it properly and show what was still good and what needed to be thrown away. We find a pile of old rabbit feeders from when my family used to raise rabbits, along with seed trays, old pans, homemade feeders, pieces of equipment, and plenty of things that have been sitting there for around 25 years. That also brings back a few memories from when I was growing up — including how my dad used to serve us rabbit and call it “fancy chicken.” Rhonda joins me as we sort through the old seed trays and show how we decide which ones are still usable and which ones are cracked, split, dry-rotted, or too weak to save. Then we go through the old rabbit feeders and separate the good ones from the rusted-out ones, while saving a few usable parts along the way. Lucy also comes out to supervise the operation and investigate the old chicken house for herself. We even find a snake skin, get surprised by a mouse, and hear thunder rolling in while we work. Around here, you never really know what you are going to uncover. This episode is a little longer than usual, but there was a lot to go through and plenty of old farm history hiding inside this little building. Thanks for spending some time with us here at Rendezvous Ranch. Until next time, God bless you all.
