On November 1st, 2026, a Learjet 60 crossing South Florida at 35,000 feet reported ice and turbulence and asked to climb. Less than thirty seconds later, it was falling. Pieces of its tail landed miles from the crash site, and all nine people on board were killed. The NTSB has not determined a cause. But pilots, engineers, investigators and the internet have put forward six main theories. This video goes through each one: what supports it, what argues against it, and who is saying it. Ice where ice should not be: clear ice at −47 °C Ice crystals and a false airspeed: the Air France 447 comparison The storm itself: a fast-growing cell, and a small nose radar Coffin corner and a silent stall: the climb, and a stall with no warning Too fast, not too slow: Mach tuck and a spiral dive The tail broke first: the left elevator, found 1.3 to 3.8 miles away We also look at the rumours that don't hold up, and why none of the evidence so far points to either pilot. Every theory in this video is a theory, not a finding. The NTSB's preliminary report is expected within about 30 days, and the final report usually takes more than a year.
