EA Sports NHL '96 - All-star Season 1 Whalers Game 29 | The Whalers Head to BUF to Play the Sabres

The Buffalo Sabres hosted Hartford in Game and gave the Whalers a very close shave with Hartford taking the win 2-1. Hartford was back in Buffalo for Game 29. The Whalers had twice the shots that the Sabres had in the period. There was only one goal and it came seven minutes into the period when Andrew Cassels had a tap-in at the side of the net after a great dipsy-doodle keep-away and pass through the crease by Steven Rice after he picked up a long dump-in by Geoff Sanderson. Sean Burke shut-out the Sabres in the 1st period and Hartford had a 1-0 lead at the 1st intermission with the shots at HTF 21 and BUF 11. The 2nd period was a stalemate despite Hartford widening the shot gap to HTF 41 and BUF 15 by holding the Sabres to just 4 shots. In his typical fashion Dominik Hasek was putting on a goaltending clinic that frustrated the Whalers. The 3rd period saw Hartford stifle the Sabres again holding them to 7 shots all of which Sean Burke stopped. Hartford managed to get another goal past the stingy Hasek with about seven minutes left in the game. Andrew Cassels showed a great nose for the net on the powerplay going top-glove on the backhand after Geoff Sanderson found him with a pass through the crease as he came out from behind the net on the other side. Steven Rice did good work keeping the puck in the zone before the goal. The Harpoon Crew were all in on both Hartford goals. The game ended 2-0 for the Whalers with Sean Burke getting an 18-save shut-out and Dominik Hasek having a remarkable 0.965 save percentage stopping 54 of 56 shots. Enjoy!
