BBC Two | 2001 - 2007 Ident | Giant Causeway (Edited Version) | CLEAN

Since there doesn't appear to be a clean version of this ident available elsewhere, I decided to make one myself using a vocal remover to remove the continuity announcer and preserve the ident's soundtrack as cleanly as possible. This is the newer/edited version of the Giant's Causeway ident, originally created specifically for BBC Two Northern Ireland as part of the 2001–2007 “Personality 2” era. The Giant's Causeway ident debuted in February 2002 and remained associated with BBC Two Northern Ireland during this presentation package. Interestingly, the ident was edited before its first transmission. The original version featured much taller columns, heavier use of a shaky-camera effect and additional smoke. These elements were considered too evocative of imagery associated with the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, so the sequence was altered before being broadcast. The original unedited version would eventually be shown years later as part of BBC Northern Ireland's 90th-anniversary presentation in 2014. For this upload, however, I've presented it simply as a clean generic version of the ident, with the announcer removed.
