Restoring a Vintage Ocean Liner Model: P&O’s SS Arcadia Part IV

In this video, SS ARCADIA moves several steps closer to the enameling process as her lifeboat davits are mounted to a painting block, her wooden components are sanded and puttied and her damaged bow peak is repaired. These sometimes-tedious tasks are important to ensure the model’s surfaces are as clean and flawless as possible so that the best-possible final finish is achieved. The ARCADIA is a rare, vintage travel agency model built in 1958 by Art Model Studios. The model turned up at an antique and collectibles show in Oklahoma, and is undergoing full restoration and reconditioning by conservator Ered Matthew.
