Space-saving paper-locked archival storage containers: How to fold a “full”-sized doc box bin Cambridge, MA (2026) (B11)
Department of Distinctive Collections. Wunsch Conservation Lab: Document Box Archival Storage System.
Conservation Associate Ariana Rutledge Begin demonstrates how to assemble a “doc box bin.” The doc box bin is a container invented at the Wunsch Conservation Lab with collaborators to store small items often encountered in archival collections such as photographs, artifacts, folded documents, audio cassettes, microfilm, and indie tarot decks and accessories. The bins allow these items to be kept safe and organized inside a standardized flip-top document box (hence, "doc box bin”).
These bins are made with solid-wall conservation-grade boards and without adhesive, in a variety of standardized widths to accommodate different sizes.
This bin, also known as the B11 Bin, measures 4 (H) x 6 (W) x 4.75 (D) inches. The B11 Bin is versatile on account of its width being the full depth of the box. It has a lid (B12) and two sets of components that come in two sizes: long side or short side.
