Fun Day Friday Episode 3: The Big Comfy Couch In 10 Minutes #audio #podcast

This week on The Next Take Podcast, Canada’s own Tanyka and Ramona take a nostalgic look back at The Big Comfy Couch, discussing how the beloved Canadian children’s series helped shape their childhoods and exploring its lasting influence on children’s television over the past 30 years. The Big Comfy Couch is a beloved Canadian preschool television series centered on Loonette the Clown and her doll, Molly. Set around their oversized couch, the series combined comedy, imaginative play, puppetry, stories, movement, and everyday life lessons to help young viewers explore problem-solving, responsibility, friendship, and creativity. Created by Cheryl Wagner, the show became especially memorable for recurring segments such as Loonette’s Clock Rug Stretch and the fast-paced “Ten Second Tidy,” along with characters including Granny Garbanzo, Major Bedhead, Snicklefritz, and the Dust Bunnies. Through its playful approach to learning, The Big Comfy Couch became a recognizable part of Canadian children’s television and reached audiences beyond Canada as well.
