【浜松においで】なぜここに？ 裏路地の隠れ家と「太陽の人」Hamamatsu’s Best Kept Food Secrets#グルメ

This time, we visited Honey CoCo Sweets. The owner moved from Tokyo to Hamamatsu because of her husband’s work. While searching for a home, she came across an old traditional Japanese house introduced by a friend. She fell in love with both the house and the atmosphere of the area at first sight — and that was where her story began. Honey CoCo was originally run by a friend in another location. She later took over the business and started a new chapter here in this old house. Over time, she added a trailer house, created a garden terrace, planted tropical greenery, and continued shaping the property little by little. That is how this unique space — a place that feels like “a little world of its own” — came to life. Another important part of Honey CoCo’s sweets is coconut sugar. It is not only about its flavor. The owner continues to use coconut sugar because of the fair-trade system that connects her directly with producers in Indonesia, and because that connection also helps support the lives and futures of local children. During our visit, we enjoyed baked cheesecake, rare cheesecake, and pudding while talking with the owner about how Honey CoCo began, her thoughts on fair trade, and the way she lives her life with a smile as bright as the sun. At the end of our visit, the owner took us to a quiet shrine hidden among the bamboo groves nearby. What we found at the end of this little backstreet was much more than just a sweets shop. Encounters with people. An encounter with an old Japanese house. And a connection to people in a faraway country.
