Note - This is not a karaoke track. I discovered “The Kind of Boy You Can’t Forget” while listening to a 1963 60s Gold Satellite Survey, and I was immediately hooked. I didn't recognize the song - or even The Raindrops - but this catchy little record sounded like it belonged in an early-’60s movie soundtrack. It turns out it was a Top 20 hit, reaching No. 17 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1963. Even more interesting is the story behind The Raindrops. The recording was actually made by husband-and-wife songwriting team Ellie Greenwich and Jeff Barry. Greenwich sang the lead and layered the female harmony parts, while Barry contributed the low bass vocals. The two would go on to write some of the most memorable songs of the Brill Building era.
