MSX War of the Dead 2: 8-Bit Halloween Horror #3

We're keeping the Halloween special going! In this third entry, we dive into War of the Dead Part 2 (Shiryou Sensen 2: Dead Walkers / 死霊戦線2), released by Victor Musical Industries / Fun Factory in 1988 for the MSX2 (with a PC-8801 version as well). 🕹️ About the game & franchise: An absolute pioneer of horror action RPGs and survival horror on Japanese 8-bit systems, a true predecessor to the Resident Evil series. While the original 1987 installment arrived on a ROM cartridge for the MSX2 (and later received a HuCard remake on the PC Engine), this sequel made the jump to floppy disk on the MSX2, delivering a much larger and darker adventure. We once again step into the shoes of Lila Alfons, the original protagonist and member of the S-SWAT unit. Although largely unknown outside of Japan, Lila helped pave the way for female action leads and heroines in gaming, serving as an authentic spiritual predecessor and 8-bit counterpart to iconic figures like Jill Valentine and Claire Redfield. Join her as she battles hordes of demonic creatures, mutations, and zombies in a nightmarish setting. 00:00 History intro 05:48 Start Game 06:18 Drugs 08:03 First enemy 10:52 Point for save state 12:47 First Load State 14:08 Second Load State 17:14 Helicopter 18:36 Monstrous plant 21:46 End #MSX #MSX2 #retrogaming
