Play Like This

Sometimes the Lord brings us back to a place we thought we'd lost. A place where we can laugh freely, find joy in the little things, lay down our fears, and simply be ourselves in His presence. This song began with an older writing about rediscovering that childlike joy, feeling safe enough to let your guard down, and learning to live without fear calling the shots. But as I revisit these words, my heart comes back to the One who makes that freedom possible for me, Jesus Christ I've lived through seasons that could have stolen my joy, experiences that left me guarded, and battles that tried to convince me that peace and happiness were things I could never truly have. But the Lord has met me in those places and reminded me that there is still joy to be found, still love to be received, and still life to be lived. And one thing I know for certain, I wouldn't walk away from the joy and love I've found in Him. I won't stop holding on to Jesus, because He isn't just a part of my life. He is the One who completes me, restores what was broken, and makes me whole. The world can offer temporary happiness, but nothing compares to the love of my Savior and the peace of knowing I belong to Him. I'm learning that freedom isn't about having a life without storms. It's about knowing the One who carries me through them. It's being able to laugh again, breathe again, and let the little girl inside me experience the joy that fear once tried to take away. I am silly, quirky, a bit stubborn at times but in all of me, the Lord has loved and accepted every single part. I have learned, why wouldn't He? He made me and what He has made is beautiful and precious in His eyes, so who am to say any different. I truly am learning to love who I am in Him. Hallelujah! This is more than a song about finding yourself again. It's a reminder that when the Lord brings you through the fire, He can teach you how to live again, too. I am His daughter. I am loved. I am still growing, still healing, and still discovering the fullness of life in Him. And no matter what comes my way, I will keep holding on to the One who has always held on to me.
