Forget the 6th Gear... The Suzuki DR-Z4S Is Ridiculously Good

Is the Suzuki DR-Z4S one of the best moto camping bikes you can buy? After spending a full day riding and camping off Outback Motortek’s modified 2026 Suzuki DR-Z4S, I think it might be darn near perfect. Welcome to Episode 4 of the ‪@Outbackmotortek‬ Moto Camping Challenge and Bike 3 of 5. For this series, Lorry from ‪@Outbackmotortek‬ picks the campsite, gives me the GPS coordinates, and leaves me to find the most adventurous way possible to get there. After starting the challenge on the Honda Africa Twin and Yamaha Tenere 700, the DR-Z4S was my first single-cylinder bike of the project. And immediately, everything changed. The DR-Z4S is light, nimble, confidence inspiring and an absolute mule. It handled the road miles, rallied the logging roads and tractored its way up every technical climb I could find. Yes, Suzuki gave it a five-speed transmission. And yes, everyone on the internet seems to think it needs six. After actually riding the thing, I don't. The gearing works. The road compromise is manageable, and I'll happily take a little more suffering on pavement for how much fun this bike becomes once the road gets rough. Because if your idea of adventure involves camping gear, backroads, logging roads and technical trails, the DR-Z4S makes an incredibly convincing argument for going smaller.
