“Christ in you, the hope of glory.” We have heard these words so often that familiarity can hide their astonishing significance. But consider who Paul has just described in Colossians 1: Christ: The image of the invisible God, The One through whom and for whom all things were created, The One who is before all things and in whom all things hold together. Then Paul makes the extraordinary announcement: Christ in you. Not merely Christ for you, Christ beside you or Christ helping you, but Christ dwelling within His people. In this message, we explore what this means for our identity, the Christian life, spiritual formation, the Church and our participation in God’s eternal purpose. We also explore the movement from God dwelling in sacred places to God dwelling in a people, and why “Christ in you” is not merely an individual reality, but a corporate one.
