27-Mile Hockley Training Ride | Riding Through the Fog & Building for RP7! 🚴‍♂️🌫️ After last week's 30-mile training ride at Huffman, Team Chain Reaction took the training to the Hockley Recreation Center on August 1, 2026. This ride was a little shorter at approximately 27 miles, but the challenge came from an unexpected opponent—thick, dense morning fog. Visibility was limited, and the heavy fog made it challenging to see and even breathe comfortably. But training doesn't always happen under perfect conditions. Sometimes you have to adjust, ride smart, and keep moving. Joining me were Clayton, Jeff, Richard, Roderick, and Ina, who returned to the group after being away from the bike for a while. We maintained a strong 16–17 mph average pace while dealing with changing headwinds and tailwinds. Unlike our familiar Huffman route, Hockley brought undulating terrain, constantly changing the effort and testing our legs. Near the end of the ride, we also faced a long straightaway where it was time to pick up the pace before heading back toward the parking lot. By the time we returned, we felt good about what we'd accomplished. The distance was shorter, but the training was valuable. We handled challenging conditions, different terrain, and continued building strength and endurance as a group. With the Rollin' Pearland Seven Ride (RP7) on September 12, 2026 getting closer, every ride counts. We're building fitness, confidence, teamwork, and the ability to adapt to whatever the road throws at us. Next week, we're heading back to Huffman! The training continues! 👍 Like, Subscribe, and Comment if you're following along with our journey to RP7 or you're training for your own cycling event.
