WHO ARE YOU RAISING? As parents, we spend a lot of time thinking about what our children will become. We want them to do well in school, get good jobs, become successful and have a good life. But there is a deeper question we must ask: Who are we raising? Because raising a child for academic success is not the same as raising a child for life. The real world will demand more from our children than good grades. It will require character, values, self-awareness, emotional intelligence, responsibility, resilience, good judgment, integrity and the ability to make wise decisions. In this conversation, we look beyond grades and achievements to ask what we are actually building into our children. Are we raising children who know what is right, even when nobody is watching? Are we raising children who can think for themselves? Can they handle pressure, disappointment, failure and temptation? Can they stand on their values when the crowd is going in another direction? Can they navigate the real world without losing themselves? Because eventually, our children will leave our homes and enter a world we cannot control for them. The question is not just, “What will my child become?” The question is, “Who will my child become?” Join me as we explore how to build children with values for the real world. If you are a parent, educator, mentor or anyone involved in raising children, this conversation is for you.
