Martin Luther King Jr Blvd & Cass Ave in Detroit, MI features an incredible behind the scenes look at an active traffic lights transition right in the heart of Midtown! This intersection is currently running classic LED Durasig hardware on a traditional diagonal span, while a brand new wire box span equipped with Eagle MoboTrex heads sits tied up right alongside it! This video documents the exciting pre-activation construction phase at this rapidly modernizing Cass Corridor intersection. Filming these complete infrastructure additions entirely on foot provides me the absolute best, most detailed perspective to show you exactly how this brand new hardware is being rigged up to eventually take over the local commuter traffic flow! 2 massive 12-inch 3-way LED Durasig clusters securely suspended right over the center of the junction on the traditional diagonal span wire configuration currently actively managing traffic. 2 12-inch LED Durasig heads providing additional directional management right along the diagonal span. 1 pole mounted LED Durasig head and 1 unique sidewalk-mounted LED head managing traffic down at the street level. 6 classic Durasig pedestrian signals with retrofit LEDs and modern countdown modules, working alongside 2 standard countdown pedestrian signals to actively manage foot traffic. 6 brand new Eagle MoboTrex heads securely tied up on the fresh heavy duty wire box span configuration, patiently awaiting the official power on and activation! Crews will soon be adding 2 additional overhead heads and a full set of brand new countdown pedestrian signals to completely finish this massive installation! This intersection is undergoing a massive modernization from a traditional diagonal span to a robust Eagle MoboTrex wire box span setup! Documenting this tied up, transitional phase gives us the perfect look at the brand new layout just before it receives its final hardware additions and completely replaces the old Durasig clusters. Tracking both setups operating in the same airspace is a great way to capture the evolution of Detroit's Midtown grid! 📍 Location: Martin Luther King Jr Blvd & Cass Ave, Detroit, Michigan 48201 🛣️ Nearby Streets & Landmarks Martin Luther King Jr Blvd – A major east-west commercial and commuter arterial running straight through Midtown Detroit.
