Sometimes you don’t realize how unhealthy your marriage was until you spend time around couples who actually seem to like each other. That’s something I’ve been noticing more and more since my divorce. When I’m around friends, family members, or other couples, I notice simple things: a wife making her husband a plate of food, asking if he needs anything, remembering what he likes, treating him with respect, or simply keeping his needs in mind. And I remember thinking during my marriage: *it would be nice if my wife treated me like that.* This video isn’t about expecting a wife to wait on her husband or comparing your spouse to other women. It’s about something much more basic: does the person you’re married to actually seem to care about you? Does she treat you with respect? Is she thoughtful? Does she consider what you need or what makes you happy? Does she genuinely seem to enjoy being around you? Looking back, one of the hardest realizations for me is how abnormal some of the things I accepted as “normal” actually were. Seeing healthy couples can be heartbreaking because it makes you realize what you may have been missing for years. But after divorce, it can also be incredibly freeing because you realize you never have to accept that kind of relationship again. If you’re married and wondering whether something feels off, sometimes it helps to stop focusing only on the big fights and ask a much simpler question: *Does your wife actually treat you well?* Subscribe for more videos about marriage, divorce, relationships, fatherhood, rebuilding your life, and thriving after 40. 00:00 A different way to spot a bad relationship 00:36 What I noticed around other couples 01:02 The realization that hit me 01:22 “I wish my wife treated me that way” 01:40 The simple things that matter 02:01 Why divorce gave me perspective 02:37 Pay attention to how healthy couples interact 03:00 Does your wife actually treat you well? 03:18 Respect, thoughtfulness and consideration 03:40 The example that blew my mind 04:13 A couple married for decades 04:47 Why this seemed impossible to me 05:15 Comparison vs. recognizing what’s normal 05:29 Realizing how poorly I was treated 05:44 What genuine care looks like 06:04 Why seeing healthy couples can hurt 06:20 The liberating side of divorce 06:49 Love, respect, care and attention 07:03 Realizing how toxic the marriage was 07:19 What I used to think was “normal” *If you feel like this video can help someone, send it to them.* Especially if they’ve spent so long in an unhealthy relationship that they’re no longer sure what being treated well is supposed to look like. *When you look at healthy couples around you, what’s one simple thing you notice they do for each other that you think matters more than people realize?* #MarriageProblems #ToxicMarriage #RelationshipAdvice #DivorceForMen #LifeAfterDivorce #Relationships The content on this channel reflects my personal experiences, opinions, and perspectives and is provided for general informational and educational purposes only.
