How SHINee kept going after 2017, and why going back to work was never the same as moving on.
In January 2018, three weeks after losing Jonghyun, SHINee's remaining four members announced in handwritten letters that their tour would go ahead. Most people saw it as the moment they moved on.
But that decision was never made just once. Through talk show confessions, an empty center in the Our Page music video, a 2021 acceptance speech, and interviews years later, Onew, Key, Minho, and Taemin kept choosing how much they could say out loud, all on a calendar set by the K-pop industry, not by grief.
This video looks at what it really takes to carry loss in public, and what SHINee's story reveals about how K-pop expects idols to heal on schedule.
