On October 27th, 2023, I spent that afternoon railfanning the CN Yale Subdivision. I first came over to this crossing as I wanted to get a re-recording of it. After waiting not too long, the crossing activated, and this eastbound CN manifest came cruising through. This train had a a pretty neat consist, featuring a solo CN 100th Anniversary ET44AC GEVO in the lead, as well as an ex-Citirail ES44AC GEVO working as mid-DPU.
This crossing is a pretty nice one. Since my first video of it from 2019, there has been a couple changes. Around 2021, the original WCH 3590 gate mechanism on the far signal was replaced with a new Siemens gate mechanism. Then sometime in 2023, CN replaced the quiet and scratchy sounding GS Type 2 E-Bell on the near signal with another GS Type 2 E-Bell (reused from another crossing of course), with a louder and clearer sound. Thankfully, the original WCH 3590 gate mechanism on the near signal still remains to this day, being one of the very few remaining on the CN mainline in western Canada.
