Filmed on March 14, 2025. Woodland Cemetery in Keene, New Hampshire dates back to 1854 and reflects a major period of growth and change in the city’s history. In this full daytime tour, I explore the cemetery’s monuments, family plots, historic sections, and the Sumner Knight Memorial Chapel. I also talk about how part of the land was once used as a militia muster field, how the cemetery expanded alongside Greenlawn, and how some of Keene’s most prominent families came to be buried here. One of the most interesting parts of Woodland is Section 16, the cemetery’s historic pauper field, where many people were buried without the elaborate markers seen elsewhere in the grounds.
