By viewing this video, you acknowledge and agree to these terms. So, how are drivers selected for random testing? The selection process is computerized and completely random. This means no one knows in advance which driver will be selected or when it will happen—not you, not TEST ON TIME, and not the CPUC. Being selected does not mean that you have done anything wrong. It simply means your name was chosen through the random selection process. Where should selected drivers go to complete the random test? Your notification will provide instructions. Depending on your situation, we may provide you with a testing location right away, or we may ask for the current ZIP code of the driver or drivers selected for testing. If we request your ZIP code or the ZIP code of the driver or drivers selected for testing, simply reply to the email or text message with the current ZIP code for each selected driver. We’ll find a convenient, certified collection site and send you the address and registration form for each test. Remember, TEST ON TIME is your assigned CPUC testing provider, so all random tests must be completed through TEST ON TIME. If a driver completes a random test with another provider, it will not count toward the random testing requirement. The test would need to be repeated through TEST ON TIME so it can be properly documented and reported to the CPUC. How Quickly Do You Need to Respond? Please respond Immediately. When you receive a random testing notification, review it carefully and respond according to the instructions provided. The sooner you respond, the sooner we can help you complete the testing process. What If You or One of Your Drivers Do Not Want to Take the random Test? Random testing is a mandatory requirement of participation in the program. Failing to respond to a random testing notification or failing to complete a required test will be considered a refusal to test and will be reported to the CPUC for review. A refusal will affect your compliance status with CPUC. If a selected driver fails to respond or refuses to take a test, we are required to report them to the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) and refer them to a Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) for evaluation and treatment recommendation. Additionally, the driver will be prohibited from driving passengers under your TCP license until they complete all SAP and return-to-duty requirements. To avoid any compliance issues or regulatory penalties, please ensure you and your drivers always respond to testing notifications and provide the requested information right away. For this reason, we strongly recommend responding to your notification as soon as you receive it. What if a driver selected for a random test is no longer working for your company? If the driver is no longer working for your company, simply reply to the random testing notification and request that the driver be terminated and removed from your Drug & Alcohol Testing Program. We’ll update our records accordingly. In this situation, the driver will not need to complete a random test. However, there is one important step. If the driver is still listed as an active driver with the CPUC, you must log into your CPUC portal and remove the driver from your active driver list. This is very important for your compliance. If a selected driver remains on the CPUC active driver list, does not complete the random test, and is not properly removed, the driver may be reported to the CPUC for refusing to test. To avoid compliance issues, always make sure your list of active drivers is kept current with both TEST ON TIME and the CPUC.
